What Kills Me blogged by Callista M.
Hours Read: 31hrs 30min
The book I would like to report on: What Kills Me
Author: Wynne Channing
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Rating: Four Stars
Summary:
“Fortune favors the bold” and being bold is just what 17-year-old Axelia has set out to do while studying abroad in Italy. In Wynne Channing’s What Kills Me an innocent teenager is accidentally brought into the secret realm of vampires that have remained undiscovered on Earth since the beginning of time.
Axelia has lived a painstakingly normal life until she gets the chance to say goodbye to Canada and study in Italy. Taking this as a chance to reinvent herself and live on the edge, Axelia agrees to meet a man named Paolo again after he walked her home when she got lost in town. Sick with worry, for she came home late, Axelia’s host family sets curfew much earlier in the night since the streets are “too dangerous” at that hour. Not wanting to abandon her newly found courage, Axelia disobeys her host family’s wishes and meet Paolo. They decide to spend the night out on the town, where Paolo and she sneak into a church. Once inside, Paolo reveals his true nature that has Axelia fighting for her life. By mistake, she falls into a vat of blood and emerges in the purest form of herself: a vampire. Overall, the writing style is nothing but consistent and chock full of witty banter. The book would have gotten five stars, but the ending is a little too nerve-racking and action-packed without the proper amount of resolution.
Within moments of her awakening she learns that she is the subject of an ancient prophecy that depicts a girl that becomes a vampire by unethical means will be the cause of the extinction of the entire vampire race. From then on, Axelia is hunted down by the vampire monarchy, until she receives a reluctant ally, Lucas, whose family was set against the monarchy before their untimely death. Together they seek to prove that Axelia does not intend to wipe out the vampire race, and instead wants to live quietly and unnoticed, but knowing whom to trust and evading captors could prove more difficult then expected.
Review:
I particularly enjoyed this book due to the abnormality of it. Many details that could possibly seem cliche in the book are quickly proved to be anything but. Overall, the writing style is nothing but consistent and chock full of witty banter. The book would have gotten five stars, but the ending is a little too nerve-racking and action-packed without the proper amount of resolution. Considering that, Wynne Channing’s What Kills Me earns 4 stars!

Blogged by Ashanti P.
I read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. It took me about five hours to read the book. The book was about Bella Swan, a pale girl. She comes from living with her mom in Arizona to live with her dad in Forks, where it rains everyday. Bella begins to become interested in a guy name Edward Cullen. She knows he is hiding a secret but it take her a while to figure it out. The big secret she finds out that he and his family our vampires. She is not scared and becomes attached to Edward. For a date Edward take Bella to one of the family's baseball games and encounters some human eating vampires. It is a clan of three a girl an two men. One of the men tries to eat Bella, but Edward stops him. The man tries over and I've and makes it unsafe for Bella to go home so she tricks her dad into thinking that she and Edward broke up and she needs to go back an live with her mom. Edward's vampire brother and sister take Bella back to Arizona to hide from the man trying to kill her. The others stayed and try to trick him into thinking that Bella was running with them by putting her scent on the tree. The man realizes and follows the Bella to Arizona. He goes to her house and trick her into thinking that her mother is back home and that he has her captured. He tells her not tell anybody an her mom doesn't get hurt. She goes alone and gets hurt. Edward finds out and goes after him. Edward rips apart and burn his body. Bella ends up in the hospital because the man threw her in glass and broke her leg. Edward takes Bella to prom and hey dance the rest of the night.

Monster High
Blogged by Ashanti P.
I read Monster High by Lisi Harrison. The book was about two girls one named Melody the other named Frankie. Frankie is the granddaughter of Frankenstein. She is 15 days old and she goes to a normie school. Everyday Frankie must put Melody moved to Oregon from Beverly Hills 90210. Melody's dad is a plastic surgeon. Melody is the odd ball of her family because everyone else has good looks but her. Melody's parents moved her and her sister here so that her asthma would not act up and she could breath fresh air. Frankie and Melody are both new to Merston High. Melody meets a boy named Jackson and he seems kind of curdy(cute and nurdy she and her sister put together) to her. Melody realized that something was different about him other than the fact that he like her. She didn't know why, all she kew was that every once in a while he didn't act like herself. Frankie was a RAD (Regular Attribut Dodgers). Melody had a big crush on Brett a normie who had a very jealous girlfriend Bekka. Bekka was so jealous she made anybody who wanted to be her friend sign a contract that they would never go with Brett or they had to fight any girl they saw flirting with Brett. Cleo was a mummy, Clawdeen was a werewolf, Lala or Draculara the daughter of Dracula was a vampire, Blue was Lagoona Blue the daughter of a sea monster. Frankie causes trouble after deciding to go to the Monster Mash Dance at school as herself. Her head falls off while kissing Bekka's boyfriend Brett causing attention and the authorities to show up. Frankie is then banished from going out of her room and is homeschooled. I don't know what happens at the end because the book ended with a cliff hanger.
I did like the book. I would recommend it to a friend, but the beginning started off slow. It took me about three hours at the most.
